If you’ve ever thought about doing a boudoir session but hesitated because of something you’ve heard or assumed, you’re not alone. As a boudoir photographer, I’ve seen it all—doubts, fears, and those little myths that hold people back all the time. Let me clear up some of the most common misconceptions I hear about boudoir photography before people book with me. Spoiler alert: they’re all wrong.

Myth 1: Boudoir Sessions Are Too Expensive

Let’s talk numbers because I totally get it—budget is a big deal. But here’s the good news: my boudoir sessions are super affordable and start at just $450, plus a location fee. That means you can get an incredible, confidence-boosting experience without breaking the bank.

From there, you can customize your session to fit exactly what you’re looking for. Want to feel extra glamorous? You can add professional hair and makeup for that flawless look. Interested in turning your photos into a keepsake? I offer printed products like albums and wall art to make your memories tangible. Need more time to capture all your magic? You can add extra session time, or, if you're in a hurry to see your photos, there’s even a rush fee for quicker turnaround.

It’s all about giving you options that suit your style and your budget. I want you to have an experience that feels both luxurious and accessible. At the end of the day, it’s not just about the photos—it’s about investing in yourself, and that’s something worth every penny.

Myth 2: Boudoir Photography Is Only for Young, Slim Women

This is one I hear way too often, and honestly, it breaks my heart. Boudoir photography isn’t about fitting a mold—it’s about breaking it. It’s for EVERYONE. Whether you’re curvy, petite, tall, short, in your 20s or your 60s, boudoir celebrates you.

I’ve worked with women of all ages, shapes, and sizes, and the one thing they all have in common is that they walk out of their session glowing. It’s about capturing your unique beauty, no matter what that looks like. You’re worthy of feeling amazing just as you are, right now.

Myth 3: Boudoir Photography Is Overly Provocative or Inappropriate

Ah, the old “boudoir is too sexy” myth. Here’s the thing: boudoir is what you want it to be. It can be flirty, fun, playful, glamorous, or sultry—but it’s never something that makes you feel uncomfortable. My goal is to create a safe, professional environment where you can express yourself in whatever way feels true to you.

And trust me, there’s nothing inappropriate about celebrating your body and feeling good about yourself. It’s not about being provocative—it’s about empowerment, self-love, and art.

Myth 4: You Need to Have Modeling Experience

If I had a dollar for every time someone told me they’re “not photogenic,” I’d probably have a closet full of fancy cameras by now. Here’s the truth: you don’t need to know a single thing about posing or modeling. That’s my job!

During your session, I guide you every step of the way—from poses that flatter your body to little adjustments that make all the difference. You’ll feel like a pro in no time, even if you walked in feeling like you have two left feet.

Trust me, those incredible, magazine-worthy shots you see on my site? Most of those women said the exact same thing before their session.

Myth 5: Boudoir Sessions Are Only for Romantic Gifts

Yes, boudoir photos make amazing gifts for a partner, but they’re also an incredible gift for yourself. I’ve had clients book sessions to celebrate milestones like birthdays, anniversaries, weight loss journeys, or just because they wanted to feel confident and beautiful.

Boudoir isn’t just about someone else’s reaction—it’s about how you see yourself. Imagine looking at your photos and saying, “Wow, that’s really me.” Whether it’s for someone special or just for you, a boudoir session is a chance to embrace and celebrate who you are.
