Frequently Asked Questions

To streamline your experience and ensure you have all the information at your fingertips, I've curated this list of commonly asked questions. Dive in to uncover the details of our photography process, and if you find your question isn't answered here, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to illuminate every corner of your photographic journey.

  • Do you pose your clients?
Absolutely 100%. And I ask my clients to trust me with it completely because what the camera sees is much different than how you usually feel in the pose. Posing can feel awkward sometimes! But please know that I've been doing this for a long time and the photos look 100x better than you're thinking.
  • Do you work with models?
I do! Occasionally I will want to try out a new studio or do a creative shoot where I'll do a model call on my Instagram. If that's the case, I pay for the studio and my models get a free session. Follow me @emilynewton.boudoir to see when I'm needing models next!
  • Do you travel outside of Utah?
I do! I frequently visit Denver, CO and LA, but am also open to traveling anywhere else. Follow my Instagram to see where I'm going next! @emilynewton_photo
  • Do you provide hair and makeup?
Hair and makeup is an add on to your session and is done by my hair and makeup artist who has worked with me for years. She understands my photography style and has never failed to make my clients look incredible. If you decide to purchase this add-on, you will visit her salon first and then come to the studio for your session.
  • Do you have a client closet?
Not currently, but this is in the works! I allow my clients to bring their own wardrobe (for which I'm always open for consultation about). This allows my clients to try on their pieces at home beforehand to make sure they fit and look the way they want them to.
  • What is your turnaround time for finished photos?
You'll have your finished images within 3 weeks of our shoot date!
  • Can I bring a friend?
You absolutely can! I even recommend that clients and models bring a friend to any photoshoot they go to out of safety if you've never met the photographer before. I do request that husbands and/or significant others stay home though. It's much more fun when you can feel completely yourself and not have to impress anyone. I also request an image of all of my clients and whoever they'll be bringing along for safety measures and to avoid any awkward conversations with people who I think are my clients lol.
  • What if I don't want my photos posted online?
100% OKAY. Before booking, I have my clients sign a contract that includes the option to allow me to either post your photos publicly or keep them 100% private. That will be made very clear before your session even begins. I respect my clients' wishes every time, all the time.
  • How much are you able to "edit out" of the images?
I edit out any temporary blemishes like bruises, scratches, or acne. Anything permanent, I intentionally keep in my images, such as scars, stretch marks, birth marks, etc. I am not aiming for perfection, but more for showing raw humanity in it's most beautiful form. Let's make art together.
